Ms. GUZEL YAKHINA
Author, Screenwriter
Guzel Yakhina, a Tatar Russian author and screenwriter born in Kazan in 1977, has garnered acclaim for her compelling storytelling and cinematic style. Her debut novel, "Zuleikha Opens Her Eyes," based on her grandmother's experiences during Soviet dekulakization, won prestigious awards like the Big Book Literary Prize. Following this success, her second novel, "Children of the Volga," delved into the life of a Russian German schoolteacher in the 1920s and 1930s.

Yakhina's latest work - Train to Samarkand, published in 2021, continues her exploration of historical themes and intimate character portrayals, solidifying her reputation as a talented and versatile writer with a growing international following.

Nikoloz Kurdiani joined TBC Bank in August, 2014 as the Deputy CEO in charge of Marketing and MSME banking. Additionally, Nika has been leading Payments business stream at TBC and the group’s other subsidiaries: TBC Pay, TBC Leasing, UFC and TBC’s digital banking platform - Space. From 2021, he started leading the Group’s International Business.

Nika has over 15 years of experience in the banking industry in Central Asia, CEE and Europe. Prior to joining TBC Bank, Nika was the managing director at Kaspi Bank, a leading retail bank in Kazakhstan. At Bank of Austria, UniCredit Group, he served as the senior sales support expert at the CEE retail division, responsible for Turkey, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Serbia. At ATF Bank, UniCredit Group in Kazakhstan, he was in charge of the retail banking division. Earlier in his career in Georgia, he served as the head of the retail banking division of Bank Republic Georgia, Société Générale Group, and held several leadership and managerial positions at Bank of Georgia.

Nika holds an MBA degree from IE Business School in 2007 and a Master’s degree in International Economics from the Georgian Technical University.

  • Ms. UMIDA HAQNAZAR
    International Trade Expert, Doctoral Student at WTI

    Ms. Haqnazar has been involved in international development projects on WTO accession and post accession in Central Asia and CAREC members states (Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation), funded by various international development institutions, such as ADB, World Bank, USAID, UN FAO, EU, etc. Her key expertise is in providing technical assistance in the WTO accession process, preparing draft legislation in WTO related areas, such as Technical Regulation, Sanitary Phytosanitary Measures, Intellectual Property Rights, regional Trade Agreements, Customs Regulation, Trade Facilitation, etc.

    Umida is a nonresident PH.D. candidate at World Trade Institute. Her PH.D. thesis is on conformity of SPS rules and practices in the Eurasian Economic Union and Commonwealth of Independent States with WTO SPS Agreement principles and international best practices.


    Education: LL.M. Georgetown University Law Center (Washington D.C., U.S.A.); LL.B. University of World Economy and Diplomacy (Tashkent, Uzbekistan).

  • Mr. ABDULLA ABDUKADIROV
    First Deputy Director, Agency for Strategic Reforms Under the President of Uzbekistan

    First reforms in Uzbekistan in late 90-s, including those in Uzbek Securities Market, Accounting Regulations, Antimonopoly Rules, Tax Policy and Management were conducted under the leadership of Mr. Abdukadirov. Later, he worked for one of the best-known western banks – ABN AMRO on the position of Treasurer.


    During 2005-2020, he had a long journey of being a private entrepreneur.


    In November 2020, Mr. Abdukadirov was invited back to the Government of Uzbekistan to fill the position of the Advisor to the Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade. Since December 2022, he has been serving as the First Deputy Director of the Agency for Strategic Development Under the President of Uzbekistan.





  • Mr. ZAFAR MALIKOV
    Lawyer, Partner at Centil

    Zafar works as a partner at Centil's Uzbekistan office and possesses more than 27 years of legal experience. Before Centil, he gained experience at a prominent international law firm and one of the Big Four auditing firms. Leveraging his managerial skills, Zafar plays a key role in the firm's management, project coordination and business development. His expertise lies in advising both domestic and foreign clients on corporate, regulatory, and tax considerations related to structuring and organizing investments in various types of properties. Zafar is particularly active in non-resident tax, repatriation, and currency control matters. He is proficient in English, Uzbek, and Russian.

    Entrepreneur, CEO and Founder at Express24

    Akmal Paiziev is a highly accomplished serial entrepreneur and visionary leader, making significant contributions to the technology and startup ecosystem in Uzbekistan. With a dynamic career spanning various industries, he has successfully founded and scaled multiple ventures that have revolutionized the transportation, food delivery, and technology sectors.


    Akmal began his entrepreneurial journey by establishing MyTaxi, a groundbreaking ride-hailing company that disrupted the traditional taxi industry. Building on his success in the transportation sector, Akmal then founded Express24, a pioneering food delivery company that capitalized on the growing demand for quick and efficient food delivery services.


    Driven by his passion for technology and innovation, Akmal went on to establish IMPACT.T Technology Hub, a leading technology hub in Uzbekistan.


    Recognized possesses an in-depth understanding of emerging technologies, market dynamics, and consumer behavior, enabling him to develop innovative strategies and solutions that drive growth and create lasting impact.


    Akmal is CELA’14 fellow from Uzbekistan.

  • Mr. RASHAD BAYRAMOV
    Trainer, Coach
    Advisor to the Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan

    Rashad is an international business trainer and coach. He has delivered his training programs and personal coaching sessions on effective communication in Azerbaijan, Turkey, the United States, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Qatar, Jordan, India, Vietnam, and Sri Lanka.


    He is the author of two books on effective communication: Trust Your Words: 10 Ways to Conquer Your Audience (2016), the first book on the topic of public speaking published in Azerbaijan, and Frankly Speaking: Nine Ways to Influence People (2023).


    In his career of 20 years, he has been a press officer, business journalist, chief editor, government relations manager, and regional transformation leader. For many years, he was spokesperson for BP Azerbaijan. Rashad Bayramov is currently Advisor to the Minister of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan.


    He has a master’s degree in communication and marketing from Rochester Institute of Technology (US), and a master’s degree in philology from Azerbaijan University of Languages.


    Rashad is CELA’9 fellow from Azerbaijan.
